Is Water Pump Lubricant a good to add to your car rad often? How often to add, how much & whats a good brand?

If there’s any information you can think of to add about Automotive Water Pump Lubricants please add. My car is an 1986 Dodge 600 with 83,000km i don’t have a problem but i just figure preventative maintenance is key. Is there any difference for Automotive lubricant for new & old cars?

The best additive I have ever used is royal purple purple ice. It acts as a lubricant and your engine will also run approximately 10 degrees cooler.

The best lubricant and preventitive maintenance is to change the coolant every 30,000 miles. Green Coolant has the proper lubricant the water pump needs already in it. When you change the fluid you also replace the anti corosive properties in the cooling system.

The kind with stop rust is good, only add once. They’re all good.

lube, is lube. Some thing, must have spooked you, to start early maintainance on your water pump.

If that pump lube was needed, get the pump replaced. pump lube is not a perminate fix.

Check the greeze point/boiling point and the corrsion level of your antifreeze. Lots of local parts stores sell coolant strength testers vut you still need a test strip to check the corrosion level.
The reason why I’m saying this is that most antifreeze/coolant shoud be changed every 2 years or 30,000 miles. Good antifeeze

    1) stops the car from overheating

    2) stops the car from freezing up when cold

    3) prevents corrosion – stops radiators and heater cores from rotting and rusting out.

    4) lubicates the entire cooling system

So if the coolant/antifreeze is changed at regulr intervals (2 years or 30,000 miles for vehicles with green antifreeze) there should be no reason to use a waterpump lubricant or any other additive.

    P.S.

If orange (Dexcool) antifreeze is in the car, the recommended maintenance time for service is 5 years or 100,000 miles.
There is a lot more to do on car than just changing oil!

LUBE IS ANTIFREEZE, CHANGE THE COOLANT EVERY 25,000 MILES OR 2 YEARS AND NO LONGER, DO THIS AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO ADD ANY TYPE OF LUBE, OKAY.

  7. hghjsln Says:

NO LUBE, JUST CHANGE OUT ANTIFREEZE OR YOU WILL FIND YOUR RADIATOR AND HEATER FULL OF PINHOLE LEAKS. GO TO THE WEBSITE BELOW AND GO WITH A GOOD ANTIFREEZE. (SOME ARE GOOD FOR 50,000 MILES) IT IS PRETTY EXPENSIVE TO HAVE IT CHANGED. MAKE SURE THE PLACE YOU BUY FROM WILL TAKE BACK YOUR OLD ANTIFREEZE.IF YOU CHANGE IT YOURSELF.

Flush and put in new antifreeze it will lube the water pump.
