What would happen if you were pumping gas into your car, forgot about putting the pump back and drive away and the pump broke off? Would gas start spraying everywhere? Would you have to pay for the damages? How much would that cost? Have you ever seen this happen to someone?

Just curious what if somebody forgot the pump in their car and drove off and the hose pulled loose and fell on the ground. I saw this happen at the pump today and wondering if that person is going to be in trouble? Somebody said they can just screw it back on but she gave them her license plate and number. Anybody hear of this happening and what happened to the person that did it?

Or do you wait for the next oil change to have it done?
